Dear Professor Nakagawa, thank you for your addressing to me and informing about your productive activity for long period. I have known of your works and read your main materials for about last 15 years.

I think that my ideas about Meta-Algorithm of Invention (MAI T-R-I-Z) as standardized format for basic education and TRIZ-knowledge extracting and accumulation could attract your attention also. Main informations are published at my web-site www.mtriz.com and also in new and newest books as "Modern TRIZ" (2012) and "ABC-TRIZ" (2016) published by Springer.

I wish you further success with your activity in TRIZ and personal wellbeing. With deep respect, Michael Orloff

Dear Professor Nakagawa, Thank you for your mail and request for my presentation at ETRIA TFC 2016.
Congratulation, your 'Personal Report of ETRIA TFC 2016' was great and very helpful.

I’m sending you my presentation with some comments.

My scientific research area is IT project management. I have been exploring this area for many years, especially critical success and failures factors of IT project. I would like to apply TRIZ method to this area, but I need to learn more and deeper about TRIZ.
Maybe you have some materials about the following: How does TRIZ relate to Project Management? How and when can we apply TRIZ method and rules to Project Management? or something about applying TRIZ in IT area, in business process modeling for IT system?
I will be grateful for any information or suggestion about that.

I hope that you had a good time in Poland, in Wroclaw. Are you going to go at The TRIZfest 2017 Conference in Cracow, Poland, on September 14-16, 2017, organize by MA TRIZ?

Best regards, Monika Woźniak

PS:  I see that you like to photograph flowers. I would like to send you something special - photo of amazing flower by me at holiday in Croatia. I do not know the name of this flower and I have never seen it before. I hope you will enjoy it too.

Hi Toru, Hope all is very well. Looks like a great program.

I am just discussing with a Japanese Professor on the value equation.
A small note to let you know there is a little typo in your mail, Frank Zeihse should be Frank Zeihsel.

I will certainly read your report.    Many thanks,   Simon

Monika Woźniak (Poland) ==> Toru Nakagawa   Jun. 24, 2017   IT project management and TRIZ (2)

Dear Professor Nakagawa, Thank you for your mail. Of course you can put photos of flower and cite my message in the page of 'Letters From Readers'. This will be a big pleasure for me.

If I may refer to your comment of my paper , I would like to explain my idea about try to integrate TRIZ into the project management methods. This paper is a first steps in my research, only for showing potential of TRIZ for IT project. This article discusses the arguments for the implementation of TRIZ in IT projects and the benefits thereof.

Maybe you got the impression that this is a very optimistic manner, but this is only model. I was more interested in looking at TRIZ as an opportunity for changes in neuralgic sites of IT project management. TRIZ stimulates taking into account the often neglected need for preparing (modifying) business process prior to the implementation of IT projects thus giving the chances of increased efficiency of the IT projects.

For example, diagrams of applying TRIZ in the setting of IT project teams present a few ideas on how to apply TRIZ. Each diagram should be scaled according to particular aspects and their combination (size of the organisation, size/complexity of the IT project, IT project implementation methodology, project experience of the organisation and of its IT team, organisation project maturity) – this is what you wrote “When various problems are found in IT projects (in the 'Real World') and brought in to the 'Thinking World', TRIZ methodology/tools can be applied to solve them individually (or depending on the types of problems).”

I wrote that a transposition of the rules onto the IT project management domain can prove rather challenging and require a lot of research work (this is not a very optimistic view). But I believe that we can turns TRIZ into a chance to improve the effectiveness of IT projects, using it as a path on which the TRIZ tools bring together an IT system and a change of business process for the enhanced functioning of the organization.

The article has been inspired by over a decade of my own studies concerning the reasons for failures of IT projects. I focus on IT project management for the development of custom software. My research based on both my own research projects and a systematic review of reports and literature on the topic. And I absolutely agree with you that: “Management of IT projects should be handled mostly as the activities in the 'Real World'; the Lean-Agile software development (or SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) in the previous paper G1) is a nice example of such project management methods. Since SAFe is still weak in the methods in the 'Thinking World', it is expected to be enhanced by the introduction of TRIZ.”
The same is in classic methods of IT project management. There are many problems with identification of user’s real needs, rational analysis and the scope creep. I work with two main trends of IT project management – agile and classic. In Poland they are used equally. So my article treats this topic more with a meta position, but my way is consistent with the previous paper which focus on agile software development.

I hope that this mail help to better understand my point of view of introduce TRIZ into the IT project management. Please do not comment on my paper so harshly. Your comment is very important for me. We are on the same side – “I hope we can introduce TRIZ into the new-generation of software development. (…) Similarly in the software development industry we try to integrate TRIZ into the project management methods.”

Best regards, Monika Woźniak
