Cases of COVID-19 infection have been found in all regions of Japan

2020/03/17 UPDATE

As reported in the daily media, there have been cases of COVID-19 infection in all regions of Japan.
OGU has established the COVID-19 Control Team to prevent the spread of infection, and has taken various precautionary measures. We would like to ask all staff and students to pay attention to the following points, check the latest information on the related websites, and be aware of your personal safety.

Preventing Infection:
The methods to prevent infection of COVID-19 are the same as preventing influenza or catching a cold.
  1. Wash your hands for at least 20 second before eating, after using the toilet, etc.
  2. When you are going to be spending a length of time in a room with many people, be sure to ventilate the room every so often.
  3. Please avoid places where there will be a lot of people, especially enclosed spaces such as live houses, karaoke, gyms, etc.
  4. Avoid close contact with people who are infected.
  5. Disinfect surfaces that are frequently touched by using household cleaning spray or similar products.
Suppressing the spread of infection:
  1. Please make an effort to use correct etiquette when coughing, such as coughing into your elbow and wearing a mask.
  2. If you are having a high fever or other cold like symptoms, please practice self-quarantine and try not to over-exert yourself.
If you have the following symptoms please contact the COVID-19 Help Center (details for your local help center can be found on the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Homepage)
    • Cold-like symptoms or a fever of over 37.5℃ lasting for more than 4 days.
    • Extreme fatigue or difficulty breathing.
  3. If returning to Japan from abroad, please measure your temperature every day and if you happen to start feeling unwell call the COVID-19 Help Center.
  4. Please stop all travel to countries and regions that have a risk of infection of level 2 or above. For all other countries and regions please keep pay attention to the latest news and consider postponing or cancelling all but essential travel.
Please refer to this page: [To all staff and students] Keep yourself informed about COVID-19
When returning to Japan from abroad:
  1. For students or staff who are returning to Japan from China, South Korea, Iran (certain regions), Italy (certain regions) or San Marino
  2. For study abroad students who are returning from countries other than those listed above:
    (1)
If you have a cough, fever (over 37.5 degrees) or respiratory symptoms when returning to Japan, avoid contact with other people, wear a mask, etc., and contact your nearest health center or medical institution. Tell them you are a returnee and follow the instructions.
    (2)
If you do not have any of the above symptoms when returning to Japan, please refrain from going out at much as possible, and if you must go out, please wear a mask. If at any point you start having a cough, fever (over 37.5 degrees) or respiratory symptoms avoid contact with other people, contact your nearest health center or medical institution and follow the instructions. Furthermore, from now the global situation may become worse and there may be restrictions placed on entry to Japan, so please return to Japan as quickly as you can.
