The financial crisis in Asia seems to have had less of an impact on investments in information and communication technologies (ICTs) than in other sectors in key countries in the region. Expectations among Asian countries for long-term growth based on the Information Society remain strong though. Two countries that aim to become centres of growth in the 21st century--China and India--are looked at in more detail.
