Special Lecture: "I want to relive that moment one more time" by Hideki Kuriyama, the coach of Japan's national men's baseball team for the World Baseball Classic 2023.

Mr. Kuriyama, who led Samurai Japan (the Japan national men's baseball team) to the championship of the WBC, gave a special lecture at OGU on October 21st, 2023.

In January this year, he also gave a lecture titled, "The impact that coaching has on people" and shared his experience of coaching players like Yu Darvish and Shohei Otani when they were a part of the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters along with his passion for the WBC.

This is the first lecture by Mr. Kuriyama after winning the championship. The lecture was coordinated as a session with Hiroji Okoso, the former manager of Nippon Ham Fighters and who is currently a specially-appointed professor at OGU. To answer professor Okoso's question, "What should we do in order for people to build off what they experienced at the WBC," Mr. Kuriyama talked about the process and methods of appointing Otani, Darvish's leadership in the team, the challenges his team had and things he didn't share with the media.

At the end of the session, professor Okoso referred to Mr. Kuriyama's motto, "Dreams come true" and asked him about his future. Mr. Kuriyama answered, "I want to leave something for the next generation."
