Proposal of Establishing a New Website Representative in TRIZ and Related Methodologies in the World (1)

This proposal was initiated mid June by Toru Nakagawa in relation to WTSP (World TRIZ-related Sites Project). He wrote in the Concluding Remarks of the WTSP paper to ETRIA TFC2022 as:

One specific point Nakagawa noticed:

In the TRIZ community there are a number of international associations/conferences and many good websites operated by individual consulting firms and academic groups, but there exists no 'representative' place where good TRIZ works are coming from various groups in the world to be published regularly.

[Altshuller Foundation site is an archive, without updating since 2008. ] The TRIZ Journal served as the leading journal for promoting TRIZ in the early stage, but not in recent years [stopped updating since 2020].

A new website, so to speak "Systematic Innovation Review", is anticipated to be established and operated by some solid international collaboration in the global TRIZ(-related) community.

We had hot discussions inside WTSP Global Co-editors on this proposal, e.g.,

In mid July Nakagawa wrote an intensive manuscript of the Proposal, and the Co-editors calmed down the discussions after understanding/agreeing the core ideas of the Proposal.

The Proposal was further brushed up by Nakagawa and, under the approval by the five Global Co-editors, was published on Aug. 30 (Section 1) and Sept. 16 (Sections 2 to 8).

Essence of our Proposal may be seen in the following slide:

Here in LinkedIn, we will show you our Proposal step by step.

PS: We should enhance the WTSP Catalogs of TRIZ Websites in the World further!

Proposal of Establishing a New Website Representative in TRIZ and Related Methodologies in the World (2) Philosophy & Editrorial

This is the 2nd posting of our Proposal of establishing a new website, temporarily named "Systematic Innovation Review" (or in short "SI-Review" (website)).  (See our 1st posting. )

In the Top Figure, you can see the slide explaining Editorial Philosophy of our proposed website.

The scope of our website is focused on TRIZ (in the wider sense) initially for a few years, and will be expanded later to cover Around-TRIZ (i.e., Creative Problem Solving Methodologies in general).

We are going to accept and post articles/papers with various approaches in TRIZ.  TRIZ was established by G. Altshuller in the form of so-called 'Classical TRIZ' (by 1985) and applied mostly to engineering problems.  Since then TRIZ has been extended much in various directions by numerous people in the world.  It is a natural evolution of TRIZ as a general methodology.  Our new website wants to cover the works of all such areas.

We are going to post articles/papers of various categories, as shown in the lower part of the Top Figure.  These categories are derived by considering various needs of 6 types of people, i.e. (Professionals; Practitioners/Users, Beginners/Unfamiliar) × (TRIZ ; Other methodologies).  Articles/papers in these various categories will make our new website useful, instructive, and attractive for various types of people.

For operating such a new website, we should build up Editorial organization and its operation scheme.  See the slide shown below:

We need to have Editorial Board (about 10 members) and Editorial Advisory (about 100 members).  International cooperation and interdisciplinary cooperation are crucial to get such Editorial members who (as a whole) are able to lead the evolution of TRIZ by editing many articles of various  approaches and of various categories as shown in the Top Figure.

One of the key mechanisms in our website is the Pool of candidate articles.  Editorial members (in the Board or Advisory) are urged to find excellent works in conferences, journals, books, websites, etc. and submit (together with possible authors) recommendations to the Pool as candidate articles.  Recommendations in the Pool may be accessed by all the Editorial members, and the Editorial Board decide the invitation of articles among them.

When the author submit a Manuscript, it must go through the Single-Blind Peer Review, for checking and improving the quality.

In this manner, the Editorial Board takes the responsibility of policy decisions and regular publications, while the Editorial Advisers have roles of actively supporting Editorial Board for the publication.

Editorial Staff, like a professional editor and a technical/design engineer, will be necessary.

Part (3) will appear soon.  In ETRIA TFC2022, we are allowed to talk about this Proposal at the Round Table session on Sept. 28.

Proposal of Establishing a New Website Representative in TRIZ and Related Methodologies in the World (3) How to Promote

This is the 3rd  posting of our Proposal of establishing a new website, temporarily named "Systematic Innovation Review" (or in short "SI-Review" (website)).  (See our 1st and 2nd postings.)

Before explaining the issue of the Top Figure, I 'd like to briefly show you the expected effects of the "SI-Review" website.  See the figure below.

The new website will certainly serve for better understanding and more effective application of TRIZ and for mutual understanding of different approaches in TRIZ.  And it will contribute much more widely, of course.

Now we face with the issues of "How to Promote this Proposal", or "How to realize the vision, actually".

First problem is 'How to organize the Editorial Board and Editorial Advisory'. Our Editorial organization is probably 2-3 times larger than those of MATRIZfest or ETRIA TFC, and need to be active all the year round.  The process of nomination and assignment of them are not clear.

Financial bases and Management of the organization are not clear at all.

We know that the Proposal can be realized only by international collaboration.  But there exist no common place in the TRIZ community at moment to collaborate internationally and to discuss and decide anything. Even though there exist huge and overlapping human networks, we have no official place or organization which cover or represent the whole TRIZ community in the world.  This is the same situation as we do not have a representative website at present.

In this situation, Toru Nakagawa and WTSP Global Co-editors are going to promote this Proposal on a voluntary basis in the initial stage.  We know we do not have any official power.  Nevertheless we each have a rich personal network in the TRIZ community with respect and trust, and supported by modern IT networks.  We believe Vision is most important to share among the people for working together.  If we share a clear Vision, we can proceed toward the goal overcoming various difficulties.

We have opened a web platform for presentation and discussion of the "SI-Review" Proposal.  Please visit and contribute at:
https://www.Osaka-gu.ac.jp/php/Nakagawa/TRIZ/eTRIZ/eWTSP/eSIReview/

We wish you all, people in the TRIZ community, think and discuss about the vision of establishing a representative website, "SI-Review" website.
We also hope that international associations in TRIZ, such as MATRIZ, Altshuller Institute, ETRIA, etc., support and lead the international communication for the promotion of this Proposal.

We are allowed to talk about this Proposal at the Round Table in ETRIA TFC2022, on Sept. 28. ==> See
