  (E) Communication by Nakagawa to Takagi, Sept. 29, 2014:

Congratulations to the publication!!  The book is excellent in its contents, and easy to learn the 40 Principles.  See my introduction to your presentation and your book in my Personal Report of TRIZ Symposium 2014 .

However, in the belt and in the Preface of your book, the descriptions look too much journalistic/sensational, used to be typical in late 1990s in Japan, and contain several misleading catch copies.  Expecting good-selling of your book I would dare to point out following misleading phrases in your description of TRIZ history for the purpose of preventing them from being spread to readers new to TRIZ.

(a) 'Mr. Genrikh Altshuller, a patent examination officer of the Navy of USSR, developed TRIZ ...'

(b) 'TRIZ supported the strength of ex-USSR in science and technology...'

(c) 'TRIZ was kept secret to foreign countries by the USSR government. ...'

(d) 'TRIZ Inventive Principles were extracted from and checked by a few millions of patents ...'

The following 4 articles in "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" may be useful for you to understand the history of TRIZ in Russia.  [Some detailed descriptions in Japanese are not shown in this English page.]

- 'Report of A Personal Trip to TRIZ Mother Countries (Russia & Belarus, Aug. 1999)' (Toru Nakagawa, Sept.1999)
- 'My Experiences with My Teacher Genrikh Saulovich Altshuller' (Phan Dung (Vietnam), May 2001)
- Historical reference in Japan: 'Algorithm of Inventive Problem Solving:ARIZ' (Hiroaki Kawashima, 1986), Posted: May 2000.
- 'Updating TRIZ: 1985-2002 Patent Research Findings' (Darrell Mann, Simon Dewulf, Mar. 2003)

  (F) Communication by Takagi to Nakagawa, Oct. 2, 2014: Appreciation of Nakagawa's Comments

Learned the history of TRIZ in the articles and appreciated Nakagawa's comments.  The belt and Preface reflect much the editorial revisions by the publisher. Nakagawa's comments were forwarded to the publishers.

  (G) Editor's Note (Nakagawa, Jan. 3, 2015)

I started the preparation for posting these 3 pages related to Mr. Takagi's works in mid November, and am finally posting them now in January.  Hope these pages promote good understanding of TRIZ and wider use of TRIZ.
