Objectives of WTSP and Practical Approaches for Us    (in Reply to Michael Orloff)

Toru Nakagawa ==> Michael Orloff (Germany)     May 31, 2019       ==> See

Thank you very much for your frank comments and questions .

Since I received your email on May 26 , I was thinking about what and how I should reply to you.

I feel that many TRIZ people, WTSP Members or not, have some questions and difficulties similar with yours. So I am going to reply to you and many others together. And I decided to post the reply here as a separate HTML page in "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" .  ...

I now choose to show my 8 slides, i.e., the short version of our presentation at ETRIA TFC2018  (Oct. 29-31, 2018, Strasbourg).
The fundamental objectives, policies, approaches, etc. of the WTSP project and also the rather difficult situations we are facing to solve are essentially the same as shown in these slides.
Beside the slides I add some comments at the present stage , and at the end of this letter I am discussing what we should do from now on.

  Toru Nakagawa ==>  TRIZ Leaders/Colleagues    May 29, 2019

Dear Bohuslav, Thank you for your message and the table of Web sites and TRIZ situations in Czech.

Your way of writing TRIZ-related sites and activities in your country is interesting, even though not in my original way.
I would like to post your table for Roles in "TRIZ Home Page in Japan".
Best wishes,    Toru

Posting in LinkedIn: Proposal of WTSP Database System for building Catalogs of hundreds of Web sites in TRIZ and related methodologies

(Toru Nakagawa, Posting in LinkedIn: May 28, 2019)

The WTSP project has been working to survey useful and important Web sites in the world in the field of TRIZ and related methodologies. We now expect several hundred of sites to be included in our World WTSP Catalogs.

Thus we now need to consider again our basic questions: what are the desires of users who would use our WTSP Catalogs? and how can we provide our Catalogs in the form suitable for the users?
Such points give influences on our choices: how widely we should include various TRIZ-related sites, what kind of criteria we should use in selecting and evaluating the sites, how we can classify and arrange such sites in our Catalogs, etc.

Considering these points, I am now proposing to build 'WTSP Database System' to manage and utilize our WTSP data of several hundred Web sites.
It accepts the description of individual Web sites in a standard format, containing the answers in the aspects of Location, Language, Role, Application phase, Application fields, Methods, and Evaluation, in addition to brief introduction of the site.
The key to our system is the capability to select, classify and arrange the Web sites flexibly as specified by the user using these indexing schemes from multiple aspects.

The System can generate WTSP Indexes and WTSP Catalogs in various ways of hierarchical classification and arrangement from these aspects.
It also serves as an on-line Query System using the same mechanism of hierarchical classification.

The proposal is written conceptually yet thoroughly for implementation.
See the figure of the overall structure of the System attached here.

Once having the WTSP Database System installed, we will be able to concentrate our efforts to survey, describe, and evaluate good Web sites in TRIZ and relevant methodologies.

[Note: When I built Japan WTSP Catalog describing 92 sites, I did all these kinds of work for myself with the help of Excel's sorting function. But to build the WTSP Catalogs covering the whole world, we will need a database system as proposed here. The data of hundreds of Websites are accumulated by many members in parallel and step by step; so the consistency in the WTSP Catalogs need to be ensured by standard format and guidelines and automatized editing support.]

The Proposal is posted in "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" (May 24, 2019).

How should we proceed in practice?  --Posing some questions.

Michael Orloff (Germany)  ==> Toru Nakagawa   May 26, 2019  Practical comments

Dear Toru, thank you for your inviting me to support the WTSP.

Together with this I am not able to embrace both a mission and practical needs of this project.
Till now I do not understand, sorry, an objective of the WTSP: what this project gives to you of/and to participants.
In this case, maybe, we can do something together to make this project more pragmatic and useful for you and the participants.
This is your competence of the leader. Only you are able to explane us what could we do for the project, to attract (involve, invite) us for concrete practical work.

To be effective I would like to ask you about reasonable apportionment (assignment) for me some practical area of my activity to support this project.

I believe that you understand that I have to struggle for progress of my company and also for the development of TRIZ as science and methodology. It requires all my power.
But I like an idea of WTSP in whiole (without inquiring into details).
So Ihope that I could do some practical actions for the WTSP if I see clearly my task and possible investment of my time and efforts.

So, like a commander, give my a task :))
And if I can I follow this command, I tell you about my way :))

Best to you, Michael

Jack Hipple (USA)  ==> Toru Nakagawa   May 25, 2019  Practical comments

Professor, I admire your efforts, but wish to offer some practical comments.

I have had my TRIZ training and consulting business for 15 years and do all of the TRIZ training for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. I will be winding down my business over the next year or so as I turn 73 and need to deal with some medical issues.

1. As far as I know, not one of my clients has found me via a data base. It's been based on a recommendation or having attended one of my public classes.

2. Many of my clients have come from phone conversations after other contacts with others who have made TRIZ far more complicated than it needs to be to solve most problems.

3. There are other "database" efforts that I have seen discussed on Emails that I have seen and wonder why these efforts aren't co-ordinated rather than re-inventing the wheel?

I wish you success!

"TRIZ Home Page in Japan" Updated (May 24, 2019) Surveys in wider scope / Proposal of WTSP Database System (Toru Nakagawa)

Toru Nakagawa ==>  TRIZ Leaders/Colleagues    May 25, 2019

"TRIZ Home Page in Japan" has been updated in English and Japanese pages on Apr. 9, May 18, and May 24, 2019.       http://www.osaka-gu.ac.jp/php/nakagawa/TRIZ/eTRIZ/

[1] WTSP Mails and Letters: Apr. 2019

[2] Preliminary Internet Searches (3) in wider scopes (Toru Nakagawa)

I started the '3rd round' of surveys of TRIZ-related sites in wider scopes by using keywords different from TRIZ. At moment, I am going to focus the sites written in English and located in the whole world. The choice of the keywords is important and delicate. We will need several (or many) sets of keywords for the survey, on some trial basis. Since we are surveying in a wider scope, we have to check many more sites and select useful sites from them. This requires us hard work in somewhat not so familiar areas.

(3A) Search with the keywords: Creat* Think* Method*
I used the Keywords with the wild card *. The Yahoo.Japan search engine interpreted the keywords much widely such as: (Create, Creative, Make, Build, etc.) AND (Think, Thinking, Thoughts, feel, believe, etc.) AND (Method, Tool, Technique, Way, etc.). Thus the outputs are much diluted.
Evaluating the sites quickly, I obtained the results: ◎ 1 site, ○ 4 sites, □ 15 sites, △ 3 sites, and - 84 sites.

(3A2) Search with the keywords: Creative Think Method
This works well. Among the 194 sites, I evaluated as: ◎ Most important 1 site, ○ Important 15 sites, □ World Catalog 65 sites, △ Country Catalog 31 sites, L (Listed already elsewhere) 15 sites, and - Irrelevant 56 sites.
The sites are shown in the HTML page and in the .docx file. See also the sample description of the ◎ and ○ sites.
*** Several more searches may be necessary with different sets of keywords.

[3] Proposal of the WTSP Database System (Toru Nakagawa)

This is a proposal to build "WTSP Database System".
It accepts the description of individual Web sites in a standard format, containing the answers in the aspects of Location, Language, Role, Application phase, Application fields, Methods, and Evaluation. The key to our system is these Multiple sets of Indexing Schemes. [See the subsequent HTML page.]
The System can generate WTSP Indexes and WTSP Catalogs in various ways of hierarchical classification and arrangements from these aspects, as specified by the control input. It also serves as an on-line Query System using the same mechanism of hierarchical classification.
The proposal is written conceptually yet thoroughly for implementation.

See the figure of the overall structure of the System attached here.

Once having the WTSP Database System installed, we will be able to concentrate our efforts to survey and describe good Web sites in TRIZ and relevant methodologies.

We cordially invite you and your colleagues to our voluntary project WTSP for building Catalogs/Database of TRIZ-related Sites in the world.
Let's work Together ! Connected !!     Best wishes, Toru

[WTSP] Letter: (10M-2AB; -2DE) Proposal of the WTSP Database System: As Catalog Generator and Inquiry System

Toru Nakagawa ==>  WTSP Members and Invitees    May 22, 2019

Dear WTSP Members and TRIZ Colleagues,

This is my proposal to you concerning to the PS in my last email.

I have just finished writing a full proposal (of about 25 pages)  [(to the WTSP Members only)as attached here with 4 PDF files].

I am proposing to build "WTSP Database System" as shown in the Gif image.
It accepts the description of individual Web sites in a standard format, containing the answers in the aspects of Location, Language, Role, Application phase, Application fields, Methods, and Evaluation. The key to our system is these Multiple sets of Indexing Schemes from the aspects mentioned above.

Then the WTSP Database System can generate WTSP Indexes and WTSP Catalogs in various ways of hierarchical classification and arrangements, as specified by the control input. It also serves as an on-line Query System using the same mechanism of hierarchical classification.

I tried to write down the proposal conceptually in detail so that software professionals can implement the solution.
[(To WTSP Members only) I wish some of you and you company would generously implement this proposal of WTSP Database System.]

Having the WTSP Database System, we will be able to concentrate our efforts to survey and describe good Web sites in TRIZ and relevant methodologies. Such survey and description of Web sites need to be done by the collaboration of WTSP Members and many other TRIZ colleagues.

Please take a look at the Figure and read the Proposal. I am going to post this Proposal in TRIZ Home Page in Japan in a few days.
Looking forward to your comments and collaborations,         Best wishes,   Toru

  WTSP Web sites in Russia

Nikolay Shpakovsky (Russia)  ==> Toru Nakagawa   May 17, 2019

Dear Nakagawa-san,
I draw your attention to our web-sites:
    www.gnrtr.com
    www.target-invention.com
    www.solving-mill.com
Have you a nice day           Best regards, Nikolay

Toru Nakagawa ==>  Nikolay Shpakovsky   (CC: M. Orloff, S. Litvin, V. Souchkov)  May 17, 2019

Dear Nikolay Shpakovsky,   Thank you for your message.
I know your nice Web site www.gnrtr.com since long ago.

I checked your 3 Web sites in our survey lists posted in
Unfortunately all three are missing in my automatic survey list (106 sites) and in Michael Orloff's selected list (26 sites).

This means there must be much more good sites in Russian which are not listed in our survey results.

Could you please work for building WTSP World Catalog of TRIZ-related Sites written in Russian?
We need a WTSP team of Russian speaking people !!
There are many good TRIZ professionals.
So please organize them to form a working group.
Please find someone who would volunteer to be the organizer of the WTSP Team of Russian Speaking People.

Thank you for your cooperation,    Best wishes,   Toru

Nikolay Shpakovsky ==> Toru Nakagawa   May 19, 2019

Dear Nakagawa-san, thank you for the letter.

I could to check the list of TRIZ web-sites. I found the list from 106 sites and analysed the one.
My conclusion is the materals have very different level. The real web-sites, some articles in different random web-sites dont connection with TRIZ, links to TRIZ books. Maybe the list is not relevant enough.

I would check and correct the list, but I need the list (26 sites) made by Michael Orloff.
Best regards Nikolay

Toru Nakagawa ==>  Nikolay Shpakovsky   (CC: M. Orloff, S. Litvin, V. Souchkov)  May 19, 2019

Dear Nikolay, Thank you for your message and your work for checking the survey results.

(1) Michael Orloff's list is in the latter half of the HTML page

(2) I agree that the Internet search results have a lot of noise.
In case of the Survey results of TRIZ sites written in English in the world, I have evaluated the sites as ◎ 6, ○ 13, □ 29, △ 33, - 25    These sites appear almost at random. See page :
The survey results of Russian TRIZ sites may be more or less the same with the results of English TRIZ sites, I suppose.
Best wishes, Toru

[WTSP] Letter: (10M-1AB; -1DE) THPJ Updated (May 18): Preliminary Internet Searches (3) of TRIZ-related Sites in wider scopes in the world

Toru Nakagawa ==>  WTSP Members and Invitees   May 17, 2019

WTSP pages in "TRIZ Home Page in Japan" has been updated tonight (dated May 18, 2019).
http://www.osaka-gu.ac.jp/php/nakagawa/TRIZ/eTRIZ/

[1] Preliminary Internet Searches (3) of TRIZ-related Sites in wider scopes in the world (Toru Nakagawa)

[2] Preliminary Internet Search (3A) with the keywords: Creat* Think* Method* (Toru Nakagawa)

I used the Keywords: Creat* Think* Method* (with the wild card *).

The sites are shown in the HTML page and in the .docx file .

[3] (3A2) with the keywords Creative Think Method (Toru Nakagawa)

This works well. Among the 194 sites, I evaluated as:
◎ Most important 1 site, ○ Important 15 sites, □ World Catalog 65 sites, △ Country Catalog 31 sites, L (Listed already elsewhere) 15 sites, and - Irrelevant 56 sites.
The sites are shown in the HTML page and in the .docx file .
See also the sample description of the ◎ and ○ sites in the HTML page.
We wish you to work for building your country's WTSP Catalog and for building World WTSP Catalogs.

We have many tasks to do in cooperation and in parallel. Let's work Together ! Connected !!

------------------ PS:
Since we are going to cover various 'TRIZ-related Sites in a wider sense', we will encounter many sites interesting and useful in different aspects. How widely should we cover them? How can we classify them? How can we arrange them? Which criteria should we have in selecting and evaluating them? ... These are the questions we have from the beginning.
At the current stage of starting the '3rd round' survey with broader keywords, we now need to face with these questions.

I am going to find solutions to these problems in two basic approaches.
One is a practical bottom-up approach, where we meet many different sites and handle them one by one, as I am doing in the '3rd round' surveys.
The other is a systematized top-down approach, where we need to think various schemes/frameworks of categorization. Concerning to the scopes in different methodologies, for example, we should list up various methodologies and try to categorize/classify them first. This approach needs trials and discussions in the WTSP project.
I have been thinking about this approach for a couple of months, and got a basic idea in early April.
In a separate page, I will describe my proposal, with the hope that our WTSP Catalogs will become a handy and useful WTSP Database. (Please give me a couple of days.)
Best wishes, Toru
